It’ll be a battle of backups turned starting quarterbacks Sunday when Taylor Heinicke and the Commanders take on Sam Ehlinger and the Colts.
The Commanders have back-to-back wins and now travel to Indianapolis to play the Colts Sunday at 4:25 pm ET at Lucas Oil Stadium on FOX. The Colts, who lost to the Titans in a lackluster offensive performance after a high-scoring game two weeks ago against the Jags, are just over a field-goal favorite at home.
The Colts will also have major changes on their team, as they named Ehlinger the starter for the rest of the season earlier this week. Ryan struggled mightily against the Titans, throwing two picks and getting sacked three more times.
The change at quarterback comes at a key time for the Colts, who are a game and a half behind the Titans for first place in the wide-open AFC South. The Colts have the third-worst scoring differential in the AFC (-27), and only have one divisional game left.
With the backups playing, expect to see a healthy dose of both teams establishing the run, as the Commanders will turn to the 1-2 punch of Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson, while the Colts will look to get Jonathan Taylor more involved in his second game back.
The safest bet may be the Under 41. The Colts have eclipsed 20 points just twice this season, while the Commanders haven’t scored more than 23 points in a game since Week 2. Given the QB situation, this could be a low-scoring game.
