Daily NHL Betting Guide – 10/25/22

Welcome to our Betting Guide brought to you by NHL Lines site Betway!

Getting a little skin in the game can make watching NHL hockey even more exciting.

During the 2022-23 season, Daily Faceoff will help you become an improved bettor thanks to this betting model and our betting tools.

Each day we will look at each game, the Sportsbook Odds (via Betway), and the odds of each team winning based on the model created by Philip Bulsink. Based on those two numbers, we can quickly identify which teams we need to bet on, which teams to avoid and which lines to keep an eye on throughout the day.

You can quickly determine which teams are the best bets by following this simple table:

I will also provide some analysis on the best bets and update this post throughout the day to point out big injury news, lineup changes, and backup goalies starting.

The number to keep an eye on is the “Diff.” which is the percentage difference between the model’s projected Win% and the projected Win% based on PointsBet odds. To find out how odds turn into percentages, use our Odds Calculator.

The Lightning have had a modest start to the season, going 3-3-0 in their first six games while averaging 3.0 goals for and 3.2 goals against per game. Their 5v5 metrics confirm they’ve been average thus far, sitting 15th in xGF% (48.9). Their special teams have been strong, ranking eighth in PP% (28.0) and 13th in PK% (81.8).

The Kings have had a similar start, opening the season at 3-4-0 and sitting 17th in xGF% (48.1), but the special teams have been an issue. Los Angeles is 23rd in PP% (15.5) and 17th in PK% (78.1). Their goaltending has the sixth-lowest SV% (.870) in the NHL.

The Lightning are slight road favorites (-125), but the model sees them as -164 favorites. With Brian Elliott starting their last game, it’s a near guarantee that Andrei Vasilevskiy will start, so you shouldn’t hesitate to get this bet down before the line moves more toward Tampa.
