The model nailed a huge upset with the Sabers over the Flames (+253) last night and it’s taking another big swing tonight. The Kraken have looked a lot better offensively to start their second season. It’s only been five games but they’re top-10 in the NHL in 5v5 xGF/60 (Colorado is currently 20th) and their power-play is clicking at 31.6% (5th). They continue to defend well also, ranking sixth in All-Situation xGA/60 but they just can’t get saves. The duo of Philipp Grubauer and Martin Jones has the fourth-worst SV% (.863) in the NHL. Based on the metrics and Devon Toews being out (day-to-day), there’s enough reason to take a shot on the huge road underdogs (+228). Let’s hope Grubauer (if he starts) is fired up to be back in Colorado and plays well, for once.
