Fourteen players from Newark Golf Club traveled to Newark Ohio to compete in the biannual golf match between Newark Golf Club and Moundbuilders Country Club.
The match replaced the one canceled in 2020 due to the covid pandemic.
Newark Golf Club beat their hosts across a three-day competition by 14½ to 13½ points to retain the Newark Advertiser Cup.
Moundbuilders Country Club will come to Newark to contest the 15th match next September, returning the competition back to sync with the Ryder Cup schedule.
“The team produced a fantastic effort to retain the Newark Advertiser Cup, by winning in Newark Ohio for the first time in seven visits. Previously we had lost four and halved two matches away,” said Newark Cup Captain David Fox.
“The result after 14 matches is Newark UK with seven wins, Moundbuilders Newark Ohio with four wins and three matches halved.
“We look forward to September 2023 for the next match. I would like to pass my thanks to those who made the trip and for the rest of Newark Golf Club members and the club professional, Jasen Barker for supporting us.”
