Boxing fan gets Chris Eubank Jr to sign his university laptop

Boxing fan gets Chris Eubank Jr to sign his university LAPTOP during a meet-and-greet session in the aftermath of his scrapped fight with Conor Benn… after he was previously begged to sign a microwave ‘which was sold on eBay for £66,000 ‘

  • Chris Eubank Jr appeared at Rathbone Boxing Club for a meet-and-greet
  • During the session, a university student got Eubank to sign his laptop
  • The boxer last year was asked in Newcastle to sign someone’s microwave
  • The fan at the time said the microwave ‘was the only thing’ they had on them
  • It was put up for sale on eBay and reportedly sold for a massive £66,000

Chris Eubank Jr received a bizarre request during a meet-and-greet session in the aftermath of his scrapped fight with Conor Benn.

The 33-year-old appeared at Rathbone Boxing Club, where he posed for pictures and signed autographs for his supporters.

Typically, the British boxer will be asked to sign shirts, promotional leaflets and gloves for his fans, but on this occasion, one fan got Eubank Jr to sign his university laptop.

The student approached Eubank Jr and asked him to put pen to plastic and the boxer willingly agreed to sign the Apple branded laptop.

During the video captured by YouTube channel Boxing Social, the fan was heard saying: ‘It’s my uni laptop, I need it. It’s precious. It’s even more valuable now, though.’

Strangely enough, it’s perhaps not even the most bizarre autograph request that Eubank Jr. has received.

That came in Newcastle last October ahead of his fight with Wanik Awdijan, where he was asked to sign a microwave.

The British middleweight boxer was stopped on the street outside Hotel Indigo in Newcastle and was swarmed by fans asking for pictures and autographs.

However, one supporter ran up the street carrying the microwave and bizarrely asked the 32-year-old to sign it.

The fan was heard saying: ‘It’s the only thing I’ve got’ as he asked the boxer to sign it.

Eubank Jr – who was clearly shocked to have been asked to sign a kitchen appliance – initially, he said: ‘Nah, not the microwave!’

However, the British middleweight boxer quickly changed his mind and handed his hold-all bag over to a friend.

Eubank Jr. then grabbed the sharpie and signed the top of the microwave. Onlookers were equally as shocked to see the 32-year-old signing a kitchen appliance. One fan said: ‘A microwave? What the hell?

While another supporter added: ‘I can’t believe I’m seeing this.’

The signed microwave was put up for sale on eBay, and was said to have sold for £66,000

The microwave would later be placed on Ebay, where the Mirror reported it was sold for £66,000.

Eubank Jr was sent a link to the microwave being sold and tweeted: ‘Been sent a link to the eBay auction that’s selling the microwave I signed in Newcastle.

‘No idea how much it’ll go for but to make this a more meaningful situation whatever the winning bid is I’ll match it and give the money to a charity of the winner’s choice.’

Eubank Jr was due to fight Benn on October 8, only for the latter to test positive for the banned substance clomiphene – a women’s fertility drug which is classified under hormone and metabolic regulators and can increase testosterone in men.

Despite efforts from both parties to proceed with the event, it was eventually axed after the British Boxing Board of Control prohibited it from taking place.

‘The Destroyer’ then took to social media after the fight was officially called off, insisting he is a clean athlete and stating he was ‘completely shocked and surprised’ by the findings.
