NBA superstar Stephen Curry is one of the best players ever and is the best shooter ever. His ability to consistently hit the 3-pointer has made him one of the hardest to guard. Furthermore, he could make the shot far beyond the 3-point line as well. Many basketball analysts feel that Curry is one of the main reasons for the current evolution of basketball, which involves lots of attempts beyond the arc.
The ‘Baby faced assassin’ started to make a name for himself during his college days with his shooting. But, not everyone believed in his ability.

The Golden State Warriors selected Stephen Curry as the 7th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. And he has not looked back ever since. Curry hit the ground running for the Warriors. Even though there were some minor hiccups with his injury-prone ankles, he came out stronger and proved his ability to lead the team.

The Warriors guard then won the NBA MVP award back to back in 2015 and 2016. He also led the Warriors to their first NBA title in more than 25 years in 2015. He then helped them win two more championships, which were a back to back in 2017 and 2018.
The eye disease of Stephen Curry
When everything is going as well as it could for the superstar, lightning strikes again. This time in the form of eye disease. Curry is one of the most efficient 3-pointer shooters if not the best. But his 3P% fell way below his usual best in the 2018-19 season. For someone with a career average of 42.8% from the 3-point line, he was only hitting 37.8% that month.
So, Curry, had himself checked for anything unusual. Turns out, he was having an eye disease. He was suffering from a rare condition known as Keratoconus. In this disease, the cornea thins over time and changes from its natural circular shape to one similar to a cone. And this resulted in blurry vision, which caused him to miss a lot of shots. Talking about this issue, Curry said, “It’s a tough situation waking up every day.”

Thankfully, the doctors were able to help him with special contact lenses. After he started wearing the lenses, his accuracy came back instantly. And he began to consistently hit the shot beyond the arc.

It would not be a lie to say that Stephen Curry helped change the fortunes of the Warriors franchise. Last year, he led them to their fourth title in eight years. Also won his maiden Finals MVP award in the process. He has helped the Warriors to cement themselves as one of the best dynasties in the NBA.
