2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic field is set; here’s who’ll be at Detroit Golf Club

The field for the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic is set and features perhaps the most star-studded group of PGA Tour players in its five-year history.

All but five spots have been claimed, and 14 of the top 50 players in the World Golf Rankings will tee it up at the Detroit Golf Club on Thursday.

Including: No. 9 Max Homo; No. 14 Tony Finau, the defending champion; No. 18 Justin Thomas and No. 19 Collin Morikawa.

Max Homa keeps it light during a practice round at the PGA.

Also in the field is former World No. 1 Luke Donald, former Masters and British Open champion Zach Johnson and former US Open champion Webb Simpson.

Among the late additions to throw their names in the hat for Friday’s deadline is Sam Bennett, last year’s US Amateur champion and Ludvig Aberg, the former Texas Tech star who earned his spot on the tour by finishing first in the PGA Tour U rankings.

There are five spots remaining, one of which will go to the winner of The John Shippen Invitational tournament which concludes at the Detroit Golf Club on Monday. The four other spots will go to qualifiers on Monday.

The 52 three-man groupings for Rounds 1 and 2 will be announced next week.
