The Big 12 has announced the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer team, voted by the league’s head coaches.
The 2021 Big 12 Championship winner and regular season champion, TCU, led all teams with four honorees. Oklahoma State and Texas both had two, while Baylor, Texas Tech and West Virginia had one.
Including the 2021 Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Year, TCU’s Lauren Kellett, and Freshman of the Year, Texas’ Lexi Missimo, all 11 individuals received 2021 All-Big 12 honors.
TCU’s honorees include Kellett, forward Messiah Bright, midfielder Gracie Bryan and forward Camryn Lancaster. Oklahoma State’s unanimous selection, midfielder Grace Yochum, is joined by teammate forward Olivia Dowell.
The remaining honorees are Baylor defender Kayley Ables, Texas forward Trinity Byars, Texas Tech defender Macy Blackburn and West Virginia defender Jordan Brewster.
This season’s preseason squad is the sixth in Big 12 soccer history to feature four or more honorees who were named to the previous season’s All-Freshman Team. The most recent team was the 2019 squad that featured Ables, Brewster and Bright.
The Big 12’s preseason poll will be announced Tuesday. The 2022 season opens Thursday, August 18, and Conference play begins Thursday, September 22.
