The Warriors laid an egg, failing to close out the Sacramento Kings in a 118-99 Game 6 loss in the first-round NBA playoff series on Friday at Chase Center.

The official SportsCenter Twitter account added salt to the wounds, pointing out the historic nature of Golden State’s 19-point loss, which marked the largest home loss with a chance to clinch a playoff series in franchise history.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr knew Game 6 would be challenging to win, knowing his team would get Sacramento’s best punch with their 2022-23 NBA season on the line.

“Close-out games are always incredibly difficult,” Kerr said Wednesday night. “So, we’re not of that (got it made) feeling. We know that we have to go out and get it done. And we do feel like we know what we have to do. It’s no secret: Take care of the ball and rebound.”

Sacramento was prepared to leave everything on the court with their backs against the wall. The Kings played desperately and the Warriors couldn’t match that intensity to close out their Northern California rival.

After an impressive Game 5 road win where the Warriors displayed their playoff experience, many believed that Golden State would advance to the second round. However, now Steph Curry and Co. now must go on the road again and get a win.
