Three injured in Louisiana after mobile homes hit by tornado | News

Three people were injured and transported to a hospital after three mobile homes were hit by storms in Louisiana, according to the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office.

The situation occurred on Morel Lane in Pointe Coupee Parish. One unoccupied mobile home flipped and two others were totaled by the storm. The sheriff’s office said a tornado touched down in the area.

Three people had mild to moderate injuries. All three were brought to a local hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office reported multiple trees blocking roads and power outages across the parish.

“We’ve received reports that the Waterloo area could possibly be without power until tomorrow morning,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post. “Please use caution while crews are trying to cleanup/repair the damage.”

In neighboring Iberville Parish, the school district canceled classes for Wednesday due to widespread power outages affecting schools.

“The City of Plaquemine has been notified by Entergy that power is not expected to be restored to the Plaquemine electrical customers until about noon tomorrow (Wednesday),” the city of Plaquemine wrote in a Facebook post. “The company is mobilizing heavy equipment needed to make the repairs, but that mobilization and the repairs will take time.”

This is a developing story.
