Samsung wants to compete with Apple by emulating its ecosystem play. Over the past few years, the company has been slowly expanding its Galaxy ecosystem of devices and custom software features. Today, during the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, the company revealed its most advanced and ambitious laptop ever, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra.
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is among the most feature-rich Windows laptops and aims to compete with Apple’s latest MacBook Pro. It will be available starting February 22, 2023, but its pre-orders have already started.
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra truly has some Ultra-grade specifications, including an RTX 4070 GPU
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra with a massive 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with WQXGA+ resolution (2,880 x 1,800 pixels), a 16:10 aspect ratio, a 48-120Hz variable refresh rate, 400 nits typical brightness, and up to 500 nits peak brightness during HDR. Samsung claims it can cover up to 120% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
To drive that 3K screen at a 120Hz, Samsung has packed the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra with up to Intel Core i9-13900H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU with 8GB VRAM, 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDA lower-end version of the laptop comes with an Intel Core i7-13700H CPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU (with 6GB VRAM). In terms of graphics performance, it is faster than the latest MacBook Pro 16-inch with an M2 Max chipset.
Thanks to a 120Hz refresh rate and the RTX 4070 GPU, the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra can be used to play most AAA games smoothly at the highest settings. The laptop has an additional M.2 SSD slot for storage expansion. It also features a microSD card slot.
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra has an AKG-tuned quad-speaker setup featuring two 2W tweeters for high-frequency sounds and two 5W woofers for mid-range and low-end frequency sounds. These are the best speakers Samsung has ever used in its laptop. It has two studio-quality microphones as well. It also features Smart AMP for the loudspeaker and Dolby Atmos compatibility.
Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra with a fingerprint reader, a full-sized backlit keyboard, a massive Windows Precision trackpad, and a Full HD webcam. The webcam supports auto framing, background blur, and other beautification features. Connectivity features of the laptop include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-A port, one HDMI 1.4 port, and one 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is powered by a 76Wh battery and supports 100W fast charging via the bundled USB Type-C PD charger. It comes in Graphite color. The laptop measures 16.5mm and weighs just 1.79kg (lightweight for the size). It has an aluminum unibody frame for a high-quality build.
Galaxy ecosystem features make the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra special
The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra comes pre-installed with Windows 11. On top of the OS, Samsung has added multiple new exclusive features such as Expert RAW Auto Share, Galaxy Book Smart Switch, Private Share, Quick Share, Samsung Multi Control, Samsung Pass , Second Screen, and Studio Mode.

Samsung Multi Control lets you control a connected smartphone using the Galaxy Book’s keyboard and trackpad. Samsung Pass securely stores all your credit/debit cards, login credentials, and boarding passes.
The Second Screen feature allows a Galaxy Tab device to be your Galaxy Book 3 Ultra’s secondary display for higher productivity. Studio Mode helps you adjust video quality and effects during video calls. It also keeps your face in the frame even when you’re moving.
