STEPHENVILLE, Texas –Tarleton soccer continued its impressive defensive play as Mikayla Kendall’s fourth shutout of the season led Tarleton to a 0-0 draw against Utah Tech on Friday night.

Tarleton (4-2-3, 0-0-2 WAC) soccer head coach Pete Cuadrado often notes that no matter what, his teams will play with intensity on the defensive end. The Texans needed every minute of defensive intensity to hold off the first place Trailblazers (6-2-1, 2-0-1 WAC).

The Texans held Utah Tech off the board on 12 shots and have now held their opponents scoreless in five matches this season. Of the teams five shutouts, Kendall has played all 90 minutes between the pipes in four. Kendall put up a season-high six saves Friday night.

On the offensive end, Tarleton was not without their chances. The Texans put up 11 shots with four on goal. Midfielder Adriana Alonso-Gomez brought Texan fans to their feet in the 89th minute when she broke loose and was 1-on-1 with the Trailblazer goalkeeper for a shot opportunity. Tarleton was unable to capitalize, and the match ultimately ended in a 0-0 draw.

In addition to Alonso-Gomez’s last minute shot attempt, Macie Witter, Rylee Low and Kiki Baurmann each contributed a shot on goal.

The Texans return to the Tarleton Soccer Complex on Sunday for a bout with Southern Utah at 1 pm CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and will be Tarleton’s last home match until Oct. 21.
