Series Matchups, Schedule And Odds

The Major League Baseball playoffs begin Oct. 7 with the wild-card round. Those series are now a best-of-3 with the new playoff format, which includes the addition of one playoff spot in the form of a third Wild Card team from each league.

The teams with a first round bye include division champions Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves in the National League, and Houston Astros and New York Yankees in the American League.

  • Tampa Bay Rays (+102) vs. Cleveland Indians (-120)

Game 1 Starting Pitchers: Shane McClanahan (+110) vs. Shane Bieber (-130), Total 6 (12 pm ET on ESPN)

  • Seattle Mariners (+148) vs Toronto Blue Jays (-174)

Game 1 Starting Pitchers: Luis Castillo (+126) vs. Alek Manoah (-148), Total 7 (4 pm on ESPN)

The Rays/Guardians winner plays the No. 2 seed New York Yankees in the American League Divisional Series (ALDS). The Mariners/Blue Jays winner plays the No. 1 seed Houston Astros in the best-of-5 ALDS format. The ALDS winners advance to the best-of-7 American League Championship Series.

NL Wild Card Series

  • Philadelphia Phillies (+114) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-134)

Game 1 Starting Pitchers: Zack Wheeler (-102) vs. Adam Wainwright (-108) – (2 pm on ABC)

  • San Diego Padres (+164) vs. New York Mets (-194),

Game 1 Starting Pitchers: Yu Darvish (+120) vs. Max Scherzer (-142), Total 6.5 (8 pm on ESPN)

The Phillies/Cardinals winner plays the No. 2 seed Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series (NLDS). The Padres/Mets winner plays the No. 1 see Los Angeles Dodgers in the best-of-5 NLDS format. The NLDS winners advance to the best-of-7 National League Championship Series.

The World Series odds have also been updated ahead of the start of the 2022 MLB Playoffs.
