Big 8 Golf Jamboree- Quincy places second, Union City fourth, Bronson fifth

CONCORD, MI. – The Quincy Orioles, Union City Chargers and Bronson Viking golf teams traveled to Concord Hills Golf Course on Thursday to compete in Big 8 Jamboree action, hosted by Concord High School.

The Jonesville Comets made the race for the Big 8 title very interesting, winning the jamboree with a score of 178, 10 strokes better than the runner-up team from Quincy who finished with a score of 188. The Concord Yellow Jackets were finally able to field a full team and finished in third place with a score of 205, followed by Union City in fourth place with a score of 216. Bronson finished in fifth place with a score of 235, followed by Homer in sixth place with a 237. The Springport Spartans were not able to field a full team and thus did not qualify for the team standings while the Reading Rangers did not field a golf team this spring.

Quincy’s runner-up finish was paced by senior Sam Sawyer who finished in second place overall individually after carding a solid score of 42. His senior teammate Dave Milliman was not far behind, finishing in third place with a score of 44.

Also adding to the Oriole golf effort was Braylon Estlow with a 50, good enough for eleventh place; Chase Walters who carded a 52; Keegan Neely who finished with a 59; and Grant Carter who carded a 72.

The Union City Charger effort was paced by junior Landyn Crance who finished in a tie for ninth place after carding a 47.

Also adding to the Union City day was Carter Krummrey with a 50, putting him in a tie for eleventh place; Logan Mears with a 57; Grady Iobe with a 62; Jeremy Zehr who carded a 67; and Max Bigelow who also carded a 67.

Bronson was led on the day by junior Carson Norton who carded a 55, followed by Nic Cranson with a 57; Matthew Blankenship with a 59; and Aiden Whittaker with a 64.

Concord’s Lewis Fritz brought home medalist honors with a score of 41, just one shot ahead of Sawyer. Milliman finished in a four way tie for third place along with Jonesville’s Zach Mains, Brennen Mains and Carter Baker.
