Pistons’ Jalen Duren ruled out on Tuesday after a collision with Kevin Love

Detroit Pistons rookie center Jalen Duren will not play on Tuesday on the road against the Atlanta Hawks due to a neck injury, the team announced.

Duren suffered the injury on Sunday in a loss to the Miami Heat.

The 13th pick was pump-faked into the air by Kevin Love and then appeared to make contact with the side of his head with his chin. Love immediately started bleeding following the collision, while Duren was a bit dazed afterwards.

The two players each left the game and would not return.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey said after the game that Duren felt woozy from the hit. The team designated the injury as “cervical; whiplash” and will likely provide an update on his status on Tuesday.
