Phillies set LCS record for merchandise sales

  • by

Having a team reach the World Series is an exciting time for any fan base, but Phillies fans are really excited that their club is back in the Fall Classic for the first time since 2009.

According to MLB and Fanatics, MLB’s official e-commerce partner, the Phillies set a 24-hour record for LCS winner merchandise sales (ALCS or NLCS) following their clinch Sunday night to advance to the World Series.

The previous 24-hour record was set by the Cubs in 2016 after they defeated the Dodgers in the NLCS. The Cubs were in a 108-year World Series championship drought at the time, and 2016 marked their first Fall Classic appearance since 1945. Chicago ultimately defeated Cleveland in the World Series to win its first championship since 1908.

Philadelphia ended a drought of its own in 2022, reaching the postseason for the first time since 2011. The Phils defeated the Cardinals, Braves and Padres en route to the World Series, where they’ll meet the Astros, who swept their way through the Mariners and Yankees to reach the Fall Classic for the fourth time in the past six years.

Per MLB and Fanatics, the Astros and Phillies set a 24-hour record for combined ALCS and NLCS winner merchandise sales after their collective clinches on Sunday, breaking the record previously set by Chicago and Cleveland in 2016.
