NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson did not mince his words when he gave his take on why Brooklyn lost to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. He recognized that the game was a tale of two halves for the Nets as they did not start off the game the way they should have.
“I think it was just about stops,” Johnson said after Thursday’s 101-96 loss to the Kings. He scored 10 points in the losing effort, but he acknowledged how the team did not play the defense that it was supposed to play in order to win the game. “Just about stops and, you know, moving the ball around, making them rotate, and then, getting open shots and, you know, basketball.”
For the game, Brooklyn’s defense did its thing since it held Sacramento to 39% shooting from the field and 31.7% from three-point land. However, the defense faltered to end the first half as the Nets allowed the Kings to end the half on a 13-0 run. Judging by the way that the second half went, it looks like the end of the first half may have determined the game.
