Netgear Introduces Powerful New 5G Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot

As 5G rolls out worldwide, the demand for mobile hotspots using the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard grows daily. To meet this demand, networking giant Netgear has announced a powerful addition to its lineup of unlocked 5G mobile hotspots.

The Netgear Nighthawk M6 mobile hotspot is designed to raise the mobile broadband experience of users on the move by increasing the maximum 5G speed that can be supported by a hotspot and adding 160MHz capability for connecting with the latest Wi-Fi 6 devices.

In 2021, Netgear launched the world’s first unlocked 5G hotspot with the award-winning Nighthawk M5. Now the company is rolling out the M6, a hotspot that is 20% faster than the M5. At 2.5Gbps over 5G, the new hotspot can hit a maximum combined Wi-Fi speed of up to 3.6Gbps when connecting to 160MHz Wi-Fi 6 devices. Additionally, the M6 has an innovative In-Home Performance mode which boosts Wi-Fi coverage up to 2,000 square feet when the device is plugged into a power socket and the battery is removed.

Powering the Nighthawk M6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon SDX62 mobile platform. Dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz AX3600 Wi-Fi 6 is ideal for all mobile connectivity needs, whether that be fast file transfer or high-end video streaming for up to 32 connected devices. A meaty 5,040mAh battery can provide up to 13 hours of operating time on a single charge.

The M6 can be used for both primary or backup Internet access and it’s especially useful in rural areas where reliable and fast wired broadband is often unavailable. For use on the road, the M6 provides secure and private Wi-Fi connections for laptops, tablets and smartphones in airports, hotels, trains and any other places with public Wi-Fi.

When users need to conserve their 5G data allowance, or if they are in areas where only public Wi-Fi is available, the Nighthawk M6 has an offloading feature. This feature enables the M6 to be tethered to local public Wi-Fi while eliminating the need to connect each device manually.

Netgear claims the M6 is easy to set up and use, while its compact design makes it easy to bring wireless Internet wherever needed. The color touch screen shows data usage and can be used to view the Wi-Fi name/password, check mobile signal strength and manage device and network settings.

With Gigabit Ethernet and USB-C ports, the M6 offers connectivity with wired devices and Netgear’s new external 5G antennas (sold separately) can be connected to the M6’s antenna ports to boost 5G reception inside buildings, at remote sites or wherever network coverage is sparse .

Pricing & Availability: The Netgear Nighthawk M6 5G Mobile Hotspot Router (MR6150) is available now from Netgear and costs $799.99.
