Meyersdal Global Soccer Schools International boys to represent SA in Spain

  • by

A team of U11 academy players from SuperSport United FC is set to go to Spain to compete in the Futebol Promesas Andaluzas tournament from November 28 to December 10.

The players from Global Soccer Schools International, formerly known as SuperSport United Soccer Schools, have been invited to this tournament, although they will also play matches against the top La Liga opposition outside of it.

According to East Rand and south of Johannesburg’s coach Ryan Macfarlane, this is a great honor for the club, soccer schools and country.

“These boys play exciting football and according to their coaches, they can compete with the strongest teams in the world in their age group.

“Ten of the 14 boys traveling to Spain are from the East Rand and Johannesburg south and most of them have been training at our soccer school from a very young age, some even as young as three and four years old. Seeing these students excelling in the academy space makes us as coaches at the soccer school extremely proud. This is a special group of boys, and they live for football,” said Macfarlane.

According to Global Soccer Schools, their soccer schools are where players are developed and judging by this group of young men they are certainly living up to that claim.

The team trains at Meyersdal Action Sports Arena, Alberton. Children between the ages of three to 16 years are welcome to join the team.
