Landry Shamet shines as the Phoenix Suns cruise past the Denver Nuggets in Game 4

Nuggets coach Michael Malone has said his team is trying to force someone else to beat them in this Western Conference semifinals series.

Enter Landry Shamet.

The Suns reserve guard hit a playoff career high five shots from 3 in scoring 19 points and sparking Sunday’s 129-124 Game 4 win Sunday before a lively sellout crowd of 17,071 at Footprint Center to even the series at 2-2.

Game 5 is Tuesday in Denver followed by Game 6 Thursday back in Phoenix.

If there is a Game 7, it will be Mother’s Day, May 14, in Denver.


Devin Booker and Kevin Durant once again had huge scoring nights combining for 72 points after cranking out a collective 86 in Game 3’s win Friday.

Booker and Durant each scored 36 points.

Nikola Jokic punched out a career playoff-high 53 points to go along with 11 assists in a losing effort, but Shamet was the X-factor Sunday.

Shamet had 14 points on 6-of-19 shooting (2-of-9 from 3) in this year’s playoffs going into Friday’s Game 4. He went 6-of-9 in Game 4, going 5-of-8 from 3.
