Joel Embiid, Sixers move up to No. 2 in the latest edition of power rankings

The Philadelphia 76ers have been on one terrific run as they continue to move up in the Eastern Conference standings. Ever since a disappointing 12-12 start, Philadelphia is 33-10 and is sitting as the No. 3 seed in the East behind only the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks.

After one helluva week that saw them go 4-0 and have to climb out of a 21-point deficit to beat the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday at home, Joel Embiid and the Sixers are moving up in the power rankings.

Per Rookie Wire’s latest edition, Philadelphia is ranked second behind only the Bucks:

The Sixers have the longest active winning streak in the NBA at five games. The team is getting it done behind a strong run by Joel Embiid. He has scored at least 30 points in six straight games and was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after averaging 38.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks. Embiid looks to be in an incredible groove right now and has had his way with the opposition of late. Philly has seven of its next eight games on the road.

As mentioned, the Sixers will play seven of their next eight on the road starting with Wednesday’s contest with the Cleveland Cavaliers from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. That will be another test for Embiid, James Harden, and the Sixers to continue to grow and build as a team.
