“I’m not 100% evolving into golf”

Since stepping back from playing tennis last year, Serena Williams has been involved in many exciting projects. After spending more than two decades changing the game forever, Williams is now focused on her family and growing her businesses.

In an interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, Serena Williams spoke about her partnership with Michelob Ultra for a commercial that will celebrate gender equality with a golf tournament. When asked what made her want to star in a golf-flavored commercial, she said:

“Well It’s not about, First of all I want to have genuine life for the product right? Second of all, what are you doing outside of it? Something special, that is like about Michelob Ultra.”

“What I love is they really believe in gender equality and gender equity when it comes male and female in particular women athletes and men athletes and it is reflected in the commercial as well, second year in a row that they are [paying] same female athletes as they do male athletes,” Williams said.

“I’ve literally given my whole life to tennis and it’s time for me to give my life to something else”: @serenawilliams is moving away from the tennis court — for now, at least. The time in the schedule has meant that she has once again taken the opportunity to star in a commercial for the prestigious Super Bowl slot. Looking at Serena Williams in the commercial, and the way she swung the golf club with ease, it would not be far-fetched to think that the American could make golf a successful second career.

However, when asked if she had the same plans for herself, the 23-time Grand Slam champion made it clear that it was not the case.

“I am 100% not evolving into golf,” she said.
