Two American League Central rivals lock horns for one final series, as the Detroit Tigers head back down to Chi-Town, as they begin a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.

The Tigers are coming off just their second series win in the month of September, although they were unable to complete the sweep on Wednesday. Yet, the Tigers offense was alive in the first two games of the series, a feat that has seemingly been few and far between over recent weeks. Yet, Detroit has won three of their last five games, and have won back-to-back road series for the first time this season. The Tigers still do not have a great record away from home, posting a 26-46 record. They also remain at the bottom of the division, 2.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals.
The last time the Tigers met the White Sox, Chicago was right in the thick of the race for the top spot in the Central. However, a recent slide, paired with a stretch of wins by the Cleveland Guardians, have pushed the Sox further and further out of first place. After Cleveland swept Chicago this week, the White Sox are still second in the division, but are seven games back with 12 games remaining. They are also well out of the Wild Card race, sitting 6.5 games behind the Seattle Mariners coming into Friday.
Detroit is 26-41 against Central foes this season, while Chicago is 34-32 against divisional rivals so far in 2022.
The White Sox have dominated the Tigers this season, winning 12 of the first 16 games, including taking two of three in Detroit last weekend.
