Coming out of a five-game homestand, the Detroit Red Wings have no time to rest, as they are back on the road Sunday night in the state to the South, as they prepare to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In the final contest in their stretch of home games, the Red Wings could not pull out a win against the top team in the Western Conference, the Vegas Golden Knights. Detroit ended up going 2-2-1 in the homestand, losing their last three games. With the tough spell of games, the Wings have fallen out of a playoff spot, currently sitting one point behind Atlantic Division rival Florida for the second Wild Card spot. Detroit will try and win their third game on the road in a row, improving on their 6-7-1 mark away from LCA.
The Blue Jackets have been in rough shape as we head towards the holidays. While they had limited expectations, despite the big off-season acquisition of offensive weapon Johnny Gaudreau, Columbus is sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 18 points, good for fourth-worst in the NHL. They did have a respectable month of November, given how things started in the opening month of the season, going 4-5-2. They continued their positive play on Friday night, picking up a 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.
In the first of three meetings a few weeks ago, the Red Wings hammered the Blue Jackets at Nationwide, coming away with a 6-1 win.
