How to follow Ohio State golfers in US Open qualifying rounds

US Open qualifying golf is underway in Ohio.

After the final round of the 2023 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club Sunday, three Ohio golf courses, including Brookside Golf & Country Club and The Lakes Golf & Country Club, are hosting qualifying rounds for the US Open, which will be played in Los Angeles June 15-18 at the Los Angeles Country Club.

The tournament at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio includes Maxwell Moldovan and Bo Hoag: two golfers who have had or currently have storied careers with Ohio State men’s golf.

Entering as an alternate, Moldovan is at 5-under par through the first round of the US Open qualifier, while Hoag is 1-over par through his first 13 holes.

Moldovan, who just finished his junior season at Ohio State, had 10 top-10 finishes and seven top-five finishes in 12 events this season, earning a win at the NCAA Auburn Regional — his fourth career win — before finishing tied for 55th at the NCAA Championships. He averaged a score of 70.64 per round as a junior.

Hoag was a two-time first-team All-Big Ten award winner and led Ohio State in stroke average in three of his four years with the program.
