How likely is it that the Boston Celtics might bring in a veteran to help start the 2022-23 NBA season? In the wake of reserve forward Danilo Gallinari’s meniscal tear, the Celtics might consider adding veteran talent to the bench if they have concerns about how long the Italian swingman might be out.
At present, the prognosis being reported is a good one, with Gallo expected back on the court sometime in November. That would have him missing training camp and taking his time to work his way back into game shape for the coming season. At present, it doesn’t seem likely that an unsigned veteran like Carmelo Anthony would be a serious target for the Celtics, but is there a scenario it might make sense in?
Heavy’s Sean Deveney and Steve Bulpett recently discussed scenarios where it might actually be a good idea for Boston to ink some veteran help in a recent video.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their take on such a contingency plan.
