Chandler Hamilton shortstop Roch Cholowsky, getting ready for the Major League Baseball Draft, has another honor to add to his impressive resume.
He has been named the Gatorade Arizona High School Baseball Player of the Year on Friday. He also was named the state’s top player by MaxPreps and the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association named him the 6A Conference Player of the Year.
Cholowsky led the Huskies to back-to-back 6A state championships, hitting .466 with 11 home runs, 35 RBI and 45 runs scored. He had 48 hits and a .970 slugging percentage. He was flawless in the field.
Cholowsky, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, has signed to play baseball at UCLA, but some have him going in the first round of the MLB draft on July 9.

He is the third Hamilton player in the past four years to win the Gatorade honor. Pitcher Brock Selvidge won it in 2020 after the severely COVID-19-abbreviated season. Pitcher Logan Saloman won it last year.
Gatorade not only bases the award on performance but academics and community service.
Cholowsky maintained a 3.45 grade-point average and volunteered as a youth baseball coach.
