The 2023 NHL Draft took place this weekend in Nashville, Tennessee. The seven-round event saw 224 total players selected, led by star center Connor Bedard.
Former Wisconsin Badgers are constantly seen making an impact on hockey’s biggest stage. As recently as a few months ago Joe Pavelski was netting four goals in a playoff game for the Dallas Stars.

The hockey program has fallen on hard times as of late, punctuated by a 13-23 record last season and the firing of Head Coach Tony Granato. Despite those struggles, four Badgers were selected in the NHL Draft this weekend:

Pick: Second Round, No. 47 overall
RW William Whitelaw
Team: Columbus Blue Jackets
Pick: Third Round, No. 66 overall

Team: New York Islanders
Pick: Sixth Round, No. 177 overall
