Ex-NFL MVP: Giants will be a ‘tough out’ moving forward

Look out for the New York Giants.

The Giants improved to 3-1 following Sunday’s 20-12 win over the Chicago Bears at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ This is the best start for a Giants team since 2011. That team won the Super Bowl.

Former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon gave his take on this year’s Giants.

Via the 33rd Team:

“You have to be really encouraged by what you see for the first four weeks of the season. A team that plays with a lot of heart. Not the most talented. The offensive line, not very good … I feel for Daniel Jones. It’s tough playing quarterback when you don’t have the tools in your toolbox. You don’t have the players around you that can make big plays. But you’ve got to give a lot of credit to Brian Daboll … they’re going to lean on Saquon Barkley .. and while they’re not a very talented team, I think the Giants are going to be a tough out the rest of the way. They’re well-coached, they play hard, they’re physical.”

Jones exited Sunday’s game with a left ankle injury. Backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor stepped in to replace him, with the Giants leading 17-12. But Taylor sustained his own injury midway through the fourth quarter, getting hit in the head while running, which forced him to leave the game as well. Running back Saquon Barkley was essentially inserted into the quarterback position for three plays before Jones returned to the game.

The Giants were still able to pull off the win and will next face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in London.
