Employees of mobile companies in Lebanon continue their strike

For the third consecutive day, the workers paralyzed customer service work and closed the stores of the companies in the capital and in other regions of the country.

As reported by the National News Agency, the employees stopped the sale of lines and prepaid cards, as well as all network maintenance services in the two companies.

The Union of Employees and Users of Cellular Sector Operating Companies confirmed the extension of the strike until the fulfillment of the labor demands and the payment of dues in accordance with the laws in force at Alfa and Touch.

The union also insisted on an openness to dialogue to find solutions which should ensure the rights of each employee in light of the difficult living conditions.

The Communications Minister in the interim government, Johnny Corm, said companies cannot bear any additional burden and disabling a public facility is a red line.

During a meeting with acting chief of staff Najib Miqati, Corm said that Alfa is holding the strike and is pressuring Touch to participate in it.

in a further statement, the union criticized those who work to discriminate and separate the movement of Alfa and Touch employees and insisted that the existing movement is purely unionist and demands that their requests be respected.
