On Wednesday, we travel to LoanDepot Park to find value in a NRFI between two National League teams: the Miami Marlins and the Chicago Cubs.

The Miami Marlins will send out Jesus Luzardo, who is 12-2 to the NRFI with a perfect 5-0 home NRFI split. When facing batters the first time through the order, Luzardo has performed extremely well, only allowing 23 hits in 125 at-bats.

Luzardo has limited experience against these Chicago Cubs hitters, but here is how he has performed in the past:

  • Patrick Wisdom: 0-for-5
  • Ian Happ: 0-for-4
  • Nico Hoerner: 0-for-3

The Cubs come into today riding a 7-3 NRFI streak. We will also be getting the better split of the Cubs’ first inning; they are worse on the road as opposed to being at home where they are one of the best first-inning hitting teams in baseball.

The Cubs will counter with Marcus Stroman, who is 18-4 to the NRFI with a near-perfect 11-1 road NRFI split. Stroman is coming off a start where he tossed seven innings and allowed one run off three hits.

Here is how Stroman has done in the past again some of these Marlins hitters:

  • Bryan De La Cruz: 0-for-6
  • Jon Berti: 0-for-1
  • Miguel Rojas: 1-for-6
  • Joey Wendle: 2-for-6

The Marlins are one of the worst first-inning scoring teams in baseball. They NRFI at an extremely high rate of 83%.

The Cubs are on a 7-3 NRFI streak, and the Marlins are on an 8-2 NRFI streak, bet on this trend to continue today.

As always, six outs to glory…
