Brian Gutekunst was busy with one trade after another during the second round of the 2023 NFL draft.
But was there really any doubt what the outcome was going to be as Gutekunst kept trading down with that second pick in the second round?
Picking a wide receiver is like clockwork for the Packers in the second round. And after trading down twice, the Packers finally selected wide receiver Jayden Reed out of Michigan State with the 50th overall selection. In addition to Reed, the Packers on Friday picked Luke Musgrave (tight end out of Oregon State at No. 42 in the second round) and later chose another one in Tucker Kraft (tight end out of South Dakota State at No. 78 in the third round).
That’s three offensive playmakers for Jordan Love. Wide receiver Christian Watson, the Packers’ second-round draft pick in 2022, is one of many who loved the theme of the night.
