CB Garrett Williams hopes to be back from ACL tear before training camp

The Arizona Cardinals used the first of their third-round picks on Friday to select Syracuse cornerback Garrett Williams. Williams is a talented player who was a three-year starter but is coming off an injury.

He tore his ACL at the end of October.

However, he expects to be ready before the season.

“I should be ready by July is what the doctors are saying,” he told reporters after he was selected.

After that, it would be determined by team trainers.

If that timetable is accurate, he will not be able to get any on-field work during rookie minicamp, OTAs or regular minicamp. However, he should be able to get on the field for training camp, which will start at the end of July.

With Marco Wilson, Antonio Hamilton, Rashad Fenton and Kris Boyd already on the roster at cornerback, along with 2022 draft pick Christian Matthew, Williams will not necessarily be expected to be in the playing rotation but he should at least be able to compete for time once he gets on the field.
