Cardinals trade out of final 3rd-round pick

The Arizona Cardinals did not make a player selection with the No. 96 pick in the NFL draft, the compensatory pick they received.

They made a deal with the Detroit Lions for the second time in the draft.

They gave up the No. 96 pick and received a fourth-round pick and two fifth-round picks, including the one they sent to Detroit in their first-round trade.

The deal?

  • The Cardinals sent the No. 96 picks to the Lions.

  • The Cardinals received picks No. 122 (Round 4), No. 139 (Round 5) and No. 168 (Round 5).

Pick no. 168 was the Cardinals’ compensatory selection originally. They sent it to the Lions in their trade in the first round from pick No. 12 to pick no. 6.

That gives the Cardinals five selections on Day 3. They have a pick in the fourth round and two each in the fifth and sixth rounds.

Arizona ends up making three selections on Day 2 of the draft.
