Bulls G Patrick Beverley takes a shot at the Lakers before Sunday’s game

Late last summer, the Los Angeles Lakers did something their fans never thought they would do. The team traded Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson for veteran guard Patrick Beverley, who has a reputation for being an annoying defender and a chippy personality.

He started the season off poorly but started to get hot from the outside in December — only to find himself traded to the Orlando Magic right before February’s trade deadline for backup center Mo Bamba.

Most would agree it was a solid trade for LA, but after being released by Orlando and signing with the Chicago Bulls, Beverley said he would like to knock the Lakers out of the playoffs when they face the Lakers on March 26 and 29.

The veteran appeared to take a subtle shot at his former team on social media, as it appeared he was accusing it of being soft.

Sunday’s game will carry lots of importance for both the Lakers and the Bulls. While LA is clinging to the eighth spot in the Western Conference and is looking to extend a three-game winning streak, Chicago is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, although a spot in the play-in tournament appears relatively safe for it.
