Arizona Cardinals addressing workplace issues following accusations, report says

In the wake of a grievance claim filed against the Cardinals and team Owner Michael Bidwill by a former team executive alleging gross misconduct, including discrimination and harassment, the NFL franchise apparently is taking steps towards improving communications and the work environment for its employees.

In an internal memo obtained Friday night by Arizona Sports (98.7-FM), the Cardinals have reportedly begun holding a series of “listening sessions” leading to numerous changes the team is planning to enact.

According to the report, the all-staff memo was sent out by Shaun Mayo, the Cardinals’ chief people officer and at least 32 of the “listening sessions” have already been held in recent weeks since former Vice President of Player Personnel Terry McDonough filed his grievance with the NFL three weeks ago.

The league has hired Jeffrey Mishkin, former chief legal officer for the NBA, as the hearing officer in the case.

Increased work flexibility, pay review and “regular cadence of all-staff connection points,” are among some of the improvements the Cardinals plan to make, per Arizona Sports. Mayo added those steps “are just the beginning” as the team looks to move forward, the report stated. It also said that in addition to the in-house review, the Cardinals are in the process of hiring an independent consultant to further assess the team’s policies and culture.

It also said that in addition to the in-house review, the Cardinals are in the process of hiring an independent consultant to further assess the team’s policies and culture. The consultant, it says, could potentially provide other recommendations for the franchise.
