Recently signed Boston Celtics forward Oshae Brissett has been selected to represent the Canadian National Team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, as announced by the Canadian National Team (h/t Boston.com’s Luke Scotchie). Brissett, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Celtics, will join a talented roster that includes other Canadian players such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks, RJ Barrett, Zach Edey, as well as fellow Celtics alumni Kelly Olynyk and Dwight Powell.
The 2023 World Cup will kick off this August 25, with Team Canada competing in Group H against France, Lebanon, and Latvia during the group phase.
If they advance beyond the group stage, the elimination stage will begin on September 5, culminating in the championship game on September 10.
Brissett, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, previously played for the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors after the Syracuse alum went undrafted in 2019.
