Kevin Durant feels the relationship with Kyrie Irving was not an issue during his stint with the Nets

There were a lot of events that happened with the Brooklyn Nets during the time that Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant and Dallas Mavericks superstar Kyrie Irving were in Brooklyn. It was an era defined by championship expectations that were eventually marred by drama, injuries, or a combination of the two.

Among all of the mishaps that happened during the superstar experiment that happened in Brooklyn, Nets fans were disappointed on an annual basis as the team failed to make it to even one Conference Final despite being one of the most talented teams in the NBA. Now that all of the superstars, including Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden, have gone their separate ways, there have been details that have come out about why none of the superstars ultimately wanted to stay in Brooklyn.

Durant pointed out factors such as former Nets head coach Steve Nash not making practice hard enough to Brooklyn not having enough high-level players around him and Irving. One of the interesting nuggets to ponder is whether Durant and Irving were a good fit together from the start. According to an article by The Ringer’s Logan Murdock, Durant feels that his relationship with Irving wasn’t part of the problem:

“When asked about where his relationship with Irving stands now, Durant seems to still be reconciling himself.

‘That’s something I’m going to keep internal. I don’t want to expose our relationship,’ Durant says. I think that’s deeper than basketball, but I wouldn’t say it was a problem. I didn’t think it was a problem.’”
