MLB Twitter showers Kyle Schwarber with praise, free tacos

Kyle Schwarber was America’s hero in Game 1 of the World Series after the Phillies outfielder’s stolen base against the Astros delivered free tacos.

Rejoice America! You’re getting free tacos! And you can thank Kyle Schwarber for it.

The Phillies left fielder stole a base in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the World Series against the Astros and triggered Taco Bell’s giveaway.

Fans can head to the Taco Bell app to redeem their free Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco. Those who previously predicted Schwarber would be the one to steal that based on the app will also get a free medium fountain drink.

Twitter may not have expected Schwarber to be the Giver of Tacos but they were ready to praise him for the feat.

Free taco World Series: Kyle Schwarber wins it

It turns out Schwarber is exactly the player Americans should have expected to steal a base for free tacos. He’s transformed into a sneaky good base stealer in recent seasons. He’s been particularly strong in that department this postseason.

Schwarber even told reporters before the series began that he wanted to be the one to win free tacos for the people. He got the job done and we salute him for that.

Aside from stealing that base, Schwarber scored a run in the fifth inning when JT Realmuto tied the game on a two-run double.

That capped an epic comeback for Philadelphia, who had fallen behind 5-0 after three innings.

Last year, Ozzie Albies of the Braves stole first base in the World Series. America got the tacos and Atlanta went on to win the championship. Phillies fans can hope Schwarber’s taco-winning steal is a predictor of their own World Series success.
