CES 2023 has just concluded, and we’ve seen a ton of amazing laptops over the weekend. But, out of all the displays in Las Vegas, which models caught our eye?
Check out the five new laptops that stood out from the rest and see what made them different.
1. A Full Dual-Display Laptop: Lenovo YogaBook 9i
Hybrid work is seemingly the future of work, and Lenovo is taking steps to capitalize on that. The main downside of working away from your workstation is that you likely don’t have extra monitors when working on your laptop.
While you can connect multiple display monitors to your laptop, an external monitor is bulky and even more inconvenient to set up in a coffee shop. Lenovo solves this by turning the two halves of a laptop into two displays.
The YogaBook 9i features two 13.3-inch, 16:10 OLED touchscreen displays, allowing you to have two monitors for enhanced productivity. It also includes a stylus for writing on the screen, a Bluetooth keyboard for typing, and a folding kickstand, which allows you to use the laptop’s two monitors in either a top-and-bottom or side-by-side configuration.
The YogaBook 9i also features decent specifications—it’s powered by a 13th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU with 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, and three USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports. It also has an 80Whr battery, which Lenovo claims will last up to seven hours when both screens are used, and up to 14 hours in single-display mode.
All these features make the YogaBook 9i perfect for anyone who values multiple displays for enhanced productivity and wants something they can take with them wherever they decide to work.
2. 3D Without the Glasses: Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED
Asus created the ProArt StudioBook line of laptops for creators, and it’s taking its offering one leap ahead this year by introducing a 3D OLED screen. The Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED comes equipped with a 16-inch 3D OLED display in a 16:10 ratio, offering 3D creators an unprecedented view of their creations in 3D space without the need for 3D glasses.
Furthermore, the laptop is equipped with a powerful Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, an NVIDIA RTX 4070 laptop GPU, 64GB DDR5 RAM, and two 4TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs. These specifications ensure that the ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED will deliver everything you ask of it.
The laptop is also well-equipped with ports, allowing professionals to attach everything they need to get things done. You’ll get two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports with display and power delivery support, one HDMI 2.1 port, one 3.5mm combo jack, a headphone jack, an RJ45 gigabit ethernet port, and an SD card reader
3D TVs didn’t take off and have long been dead and gone, meaning there’s no content for 3D consumption. However, this laptop isn’t meant for 3D entertainment. Instead, it’s made for professionals who work with 3D design and will find a 3D display useful for previewing their work without needing 3D printers.
So, whether you’re an industrial designer, an architect, or just someone who works with 3D applications, the Asus ProArt StudioBook 16 3D OLED will allow you to see your work as you’re building it.
3. Portable Powerhouse: MSI Titan GT77
If you can’t get enough power and are willing to trade everything (including money and portability) for it, then you should set your sights on the MSI Titan GT77. This desktop replacement device has nothing but the best in it.
Inside its thick chassis, you’ll find an Intel Core i90-13980HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 laptop GPU, 128GB DDR5 RAM, two NVMe PCIe Gen 4 and one NVME PCIe Gen 5 SSD slots, and a Cherry Mechanical gaming keyboard from SteelSeries . You can also pick between a 17.3-inch QHD (1440p) 240Hz IPS or 17.3-inch UHD (4K) 144Hz MiniLED HDR 1000 display.
Of course, this beast of a laptop also won’t let you down with its port options. You get one Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port with power delivery, another Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port, three USB3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a Mini-DisplayPort, an 8K@60 or 4K@120 HDMI port, an SD card reader, and an RJ45 jack.
All this muscle is powered by a four-cell 99WHr battery, the largest you can get on a plane, and a 330-watt adapter. This behemoth will deliver performance, but you’ll also have to pay for it in weight—this laptop comes in at 3.3 kgs.
4. AI Engine in a Gaming PC: Lenovo Legion Pro 7
Most laptops use raw power to deliver performance. However, Lenovo is changing the game by introducing something new in the Legion Pro 7: an AI chip. Both the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 and Legion Pro 5 sport the Lenovo LA AI chip.
Karan Kapur, Lenovo Global Gaming Marketing Head, said, “Think of your Legion laptop like a car and the AI chip as your pit crew.” He further said, “With AI turned on, we are seeing up to a 15% boost in performance on the Legion Pro 7.”
The Legion Pro 7 already comes with top-end specs, like the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU, an NVIDIA 4000-series GPU, up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and up to 2TB of PCIe 4.0 SSDs. However, adding the AI chip will allow the system to tune itself automatically for whatever task you’re doing.
So, whether you’re playing a GPU-intensive game, running a CPU-heavy application, or simply browsing the internet, the Legion Pro 7 will adjust its settings to ensure you get the optimal experience.
5. A Truly Massive and Responsive Display: Razer Blade 18
One of the big issues laptops have is their limited screen size. Whether you’re working or playing, a small 15-inch screen will hurt your eyes, especially if you’re staring at it for hours at a time. But with the Razer Blade 18, you’re greeted with an absolutely massive 16:10 18-inch display.
Beyond its size and aspect ratio, the monitor also delivers QHD+ quality, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 3 ms response time, making it perfect for gaming on the go. It also has a 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut, ensuring color accuracy for both work and play.
Of course, you also get top-of-the-line specifications with this premium screen. The Blade 18 uses 13th-gen Intel Core i9 HX processors, set for up to 120W TDP, a choice between RTX 4090 and 4080 laptop GPUs, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and up to 8TB of M.2 NVMe SSDs.
Razer brands the Blade 18 as “The Ultimate Desktop Replacement,” and we can’t help but agree, especially in the monitor department.
